The story
Six old men, seen only as heads at the foot of an elegant couch, examine the woman reclining on it. The title The Inspection was supplied by the scholar Gert Schiff, whose 1969 book reprinted much of the Rowlandson erotica first listed by the bibliographer Henry Spencer Ashbee.
