The story
After Japanese prints went on show in Paris in 1890, Cassatt made a series of color drypoints and aquatints, Woman Bathing among them, and exhibited them in 1891. She kept to light pastel colors and avoided black, and the scholar Adelyn Breeskin judged the prints her most original contribution.
