The story

Naples locked its erotic finds from Pompeii and Herculaneum away in a Secret Museum in 1821 and bricked up the doorway in 1849. At Pompeii itself, metal cabinets over erotic frescoes were opened for a fee to gentlemen but not ladies, a peep show still running in the 1960s.
