The story

The faun gives himself away only by his pointed ears. Commissioned by the Marcotte de Quivières family, the painting was owned from 1958 by the Baltimore restaurateurs William and Frances Haussner, then bought at auction in 2001 by Steven and Alexandra Cohen, who gave it to the Bruce Museum in 2006.
