The story

After Hercules killed Iphitus, the Delphic Oracle ordered him to serve Queen Omphale of Lydia as a slave for a year. Later tellings made it a comic reversal of the sexes, with the hero in women's clothes holding wool while Omphale wore his lion skin and carried his club.
