The story

The smiling nude in a black lace mantilla is the singer Raquel Meller, and the man holding the sheet of paper is her future husband, the Guatemalan writer Enrique Gómez Carrillo. Romero de Torres cast her as Venus, with a rose at her feet for passionate love.
