The story

Procuresses gather around a reclining nude, posed after Velázquez's Rokeby Venus, to settle the terms of the sin about to be committed, while a fourth woman holds out the apple. Romero de Torres showed it at the 1915 National Fine Arts Exhibition beside its pair, La gracia.
