The story
Shown in Stockholm in 1876, Kronberg's hunting nymph spied on by two fauns caused a sensation, and some viewers found it too sexually provocative. August Strindberg, then an art critic, hailed Kronberg as a triumphant artist, and the Nationalmuseum bought the painting that same year.
