The story

For generations the right half of Lampi's Venus was painted over, hiding a Cupid, and viewers took the sleeper for the Hundsgräfin from two regional novels. Infrared and X-ray scans revealed the Cupid, and in 2024 restorers uncovered him, restoring the picture's original meaning.
