The story
Drawn in black and white chalk on blue-grey paper, the study comes from a 17th-century album that also once held thirteen drawings by Jacques de Gheyn, since scattered. Its sheets can still be traced by an old numbering, here N°33, and the Rijksmuseum received it as a private gift in 2015.
