The story

Lost in thoughts of King Dushyanta, Shakuntala fails to notice a visiting sage, who curses her, and the curse lifts only when Dushyanta sees his signet ring. Ravi Varma's canvas won a prize at the Bombay Art Society Exhibition in March 1901.
