The story
Boccaccio's Cimon is a coarse nobleman who falls for Iphigenia when he finds her asleep in a wood, and love turns him refined until he wins her. Lely painted the meeting in the 1650s, and the canvas is lent to the National Trust by the Trustees of the Sackville Estate.
